DISCOVERING BULGARIA , part 1...

DISCOVERING BULGARIA , part 1...

Hello friends! Since I've been living in Bulgaria for the last 5 years, it would be strange if I didn't want to tell you about this country...The first association with the word "Bulgaria" is an inexpensive beach holiday, isn't it? But after spending time on the Black Sea coast, you will not feel the atmosphere, the flavor, or the character of this country, unfortunately. The true character of the country is manifested in a completely different part of it, the mountains (the Rhodopes, the Elena Balkans, etc.). I decided to make two publications: in the first (today) I will tell and show colorful and truly Bulgarian places to expand your understanding of the country and show you what you may not have seen, and in the second publication we will return to the coast, where I will also tell you a lot of interesting things, perhaps something will be useful to you, taking into account the approach of the summer season...

So let's get started. Dear friends, did you know that Bulgaria has a large number of caves, waterfalls, lakes and nature reserves? Yes, the sea is far from the only wealth of Bulgaria. For me, all the charm of this country lies in its nature...

There are many beautiful Yazovirs in the country. Yazovir is an artificially created lake, the water from which can be used for the needs of the population. In the photo below, yazovir Batak was especially beautiful in the predawn fog! :)

A natural phenomenon is the Chudnite Mostove cave...An absolutely incredible place!

Besides nature, I adore the Balkan flavor, the traditional architectural style, and the old streets. The city of Veliko Trnovo has won my heart once and for all - I have never seen such beauty, atmosphere and some special aura anywhere else in Bulgaria.
Veliko Trnovo is the capital of the ancient Bulgarian state, the historical center of the country, where a huge number of architectural and cultural monuments are concentrated. The creative city has a huge number of small workshops: ceramics, wood carving, knives, etc. All this can be seen in the very center. The city itself is located inside a winding gorge, and the Tsarevets Fortress stands above it all. During the summer season, in the evenings, the fortress hosts an incredible light show for tourists, of whom, by the way, there are always a huge number in Veliko Trnovo throughout the year (groups of Japanese tourists are especially numerous :)

Such cute and original details are very common when walking around the city..

Not far from Veliko Trnovo is the Etr architectural and ethnographic complex, a unique open-air museum demonstrating Bulgarian life of the 18th and 19th centuries. Very colorful!

And finally, some photos of the city of Plovdiv. Plovdiv is also an amazing place, it is one of the oldest cities in Europe! The city is located on six hills. Ancient Thracian, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman cultural finds have been found in the area of Plovdiv. As well as cultural monuments of the Bulgarian Renaissance...

I think that's the end of it for today. Unfortunately, it is not possible to put all the photos and all the information about the beauty of Bulgaria in one publication, and this is not the goal. My goal is to show you, at least a little bit, how multifaceted this country is, with a rich historical and cultural heritage...I hope you were interested!
See you soon! :)
