SVETLOGORSK : FRESH BALTIC AIR, PINE TREES, OLD VILLAS...
Hello everyone Another resort town in the Kaliningrad region that we visited, breathed in the fresh Baltic air and appreciated the German architecture is Svetlogorsk. I have already written about Zelenogradsk, now it is the turn of Svetlogorsk.
Just like Zelenogradsk, Svetlogorsk was a part of East Prussia, was a famous medical resort and was called Rauschen. But in 1947, the geopolitical situation changed, and the city, becoming part of Russia, secured the name Svetlogorsk. Like Zelenogradsk, it is located on the shores of the Baltic Sea, in the Kaliningrad region, and invariably attracts tourists, more and more every year. Unlike Zelenogradsk, a special feature (so to speak) of Svetlogorsk is the presence of a large number of pine trees, which makes the air even fresher and more healing. There are also preserved German villas and houses, which can be seen by walking along the central streets (Lenin Street, Dynamo, etc.)
The symbol of Svetlogorsk, that building. which can be seen on all the postcards is the water tower, part of the former mud clinic, which has survived to this day. Just in the photo below. There are also many cafes and restaurants of local cuisine to choose from, but in my opinion there are slightly fewer of them here than in the center of Zelenogradsk. There is a cable car (yellow cabins in the photo), along which you can descend to the promenade to the sea. Svetlogorsk is a very nice, atmospheric town, the only drawback of which is the unfinished embankment and construction work on the promenade, which still won't end. Otherwise, it's a wonderful town that deserves attention and a visit!
Thank you for your attention!
