VOGUE VINTAGE COVERS, Feel the beauty of the past...
Hello, friends! Today I wanted to talk about this topic: vintage. In recent years, the trend for vintage items has been shifting from season to season, adding a vintage brooch or bag to your look is considered a sign of good taste, because "vintage" is always something more than a new item from the store, it's always some kind of small personal story...To be honest, I often consider vintage brooches, because brooches are generally my weakness, but I haven't decided to buy them yet...Perhaps it's holding back the fact that every thing carries a certain energy, and when you don't know the fate of the person who wore this jewelry before you, it becomes somehow...Well, of course, this is my subjective opinion, let's not fall into mysticism. And, I think, a little more, and I'll decide anyway :)
In the meantime, I'd like to talk about something else. We all know VOGUE magazine, the icon magazine, the "bible" of fashion. And here I would like to clarify one point. If you buy this magazine, you should not expect that you will find ideas for a casual look for your wardrobe. There are fashion magazines for copying images (and there is nothing wrong with this word, it is through copying that one learns to improve one's style at the first stage), for example Cosmopolitan, Glamour, etc. And there are fashion magazines for inspiration, the images in them are creative, absolutely unacceptable and not applicable in life, but watching them you develop your taste and get aesthetic pleasure. Such magazines include VOGUE and HARPER'S BAZAAR.
So that's about VOGUE. The first issue was created in 1892, it was produced and is being produced regardless of any social, social and political events. After seeing the vintage issues of this magazine, I got the idea to make a collection! For some reason, I really like to look at these covers, these images, they fascinate me!
Just look at these covers from the 20s and 50s.:
Do not forget that fashion always reacts clearly and reflects events taking place in society, which is why every trend - be it short haircuts of the 20s, the "diva" style of the 30s, or the hippie of the 70s - has an explanation related to history, it can be wars, economic crises., or something else. If you know this, you begin to understand that "fashion" is not some abstract concept, but, perhaps, a method of studying and analyzing the history of mankind, just from a slightly different angle. This understanding came to me while studying a fashion history course, where fashion from different eras was examined in detail. It captured me so much that I wanted to dive deeper into the subject, and I became interested in vintage. By the way, for those who, like me, are interested in (or just planning to start) the topic of fashion history, as well as just to broaden their horizons, I recommend the following books: Tim Gunn "The Fashion Bible" and Alexander Vasiliev "Studies on Fashion and Style" and "European Fashion: 3 centuries".
And now let's enjoy fashionable photo shoots from different years.:
In one of the following posts, I will definitely write in more detail about one of the fashionable eras, and most likely it will be my favorite 50s :)
Thank you for your attention !
